Service Dogs

Certified service dogs assisting individuals with disabilities are welcome in the ICR Discovery Center Exhibit Hall. To ensure the safety and comfort of the animal, service dogs are not permitted in the planetarium due to flashing lights and special effects that may cause stress or disorientation.

Service dogs must remain under the handler’s control at all times and must be on a leash.

While we understand that some animals provide emotional support, only certified service dogs that meet the legal definition of a service animal are permitted inside the facility. Comfort animals, therapy animals, and pets are not allowed.

Mobility

Mobility

The ICR Discovery Center is fully accessible to guests using wheelchairs or strollers. Ramps are available at both the entrance and exit to ensure smooth access into and out of the building.

Most exhibits throughout the center are wheelchair accessible. Complimentary wheelchairs are available at the front ticket counter on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that we are unable to accommodate wheelchair reservations.

All restrooms are wheelchair accessible, and accessible water fountains are conveniently located near the main interior restrooms.

Sensory

To help create an inclusive and comfortable experience for all guests, we offer complimentary Sensory Bags for visitors with sensory sensitivities. Each bag includes items such as noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and other calming supports.

Sensory Bags are available for checkout at the front ticket counter. To borrow one, simply provide your name and phone number at the Guest Services desk. Bags are available on a first-come, first-served basis—no reservation required. We kindly ask that all items be returned before you leave.

On especially busy days, the ICR Discovery Center may host several hundred guests, which can feel overwhelming for some visitors. If you need a break, you’re welcome to step outside and enjoy the fresh air in Discovery Park, located just outside the Exhibit Hall.

Large-print scripts of Exhibit Hall video content are also available upon request. If you need any assistance during your visit, our Guest Services team is here to help.

We are also currently exploring a partnership with a software provider to offer real-time closed captioning for ICR’s video presentations, with the goal of making our content even more accessible to every guest.

Blind or Visually Impaired

To support visitors who are blind or have low vision, we offer large-print scripts for all Exhibit Hall video presentations upon request. We also provide personal guided tours to help ensure an engaging and accessible experience throughout the Exhibit Hall.

Guided tour availability may vary based on staff and volunteer schedules, so we kindly recommend reaching out a few days in advance of your visit. You can email us at discover@icr.org to explore available options or request accommodations.

We are committed to making all exhibits and presentations as accessible as possible. If you need any assistance during your visit, our team will be happy to help.
